Creative submissions to No Rules’ spring semester edition are now open. No Rules at Cornell University is a student-run intersectional feminist zine.

We are calling for creative submissions to publish in our Spring 2023 “adventure” edition. Submissions may include poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, and any visual artwork that can be converted into a pdf (photography, drawings, etc.).

Submission Guidelines

Submissions should support our three pillars, whatever that may mean to you.

Any written work should be double-spaced with page numbers in the header. 

Please use Times New Roman size 12.

Submissions should align with our theme: “adventure.” Interpret this theme however you wish.

We will review all submissions anonymously. Unless absolutely integral to your creative work, please do not include your name in your submission document/pdf.

We will contact you via email if your submission has been selected for publication. If you need to retract your submission at any time, please let us know as soon as possible. We can only guarantee the withdrawal of your work from our publication if contacted within seven days of the send date of your acceptance notification.

For Poetry 

Writers may submit up to three poems at once (must combine into one document or pdf). Total word count may not exceed 1500.

For Fiction

Writers may submit one piece of fiction. Total word count may not exceed 3000 words.

For Creative Nonfiction

Writers may submit one piece of creative nonfiction. Total word count may not exceed 3000 words.

For Visual Artwork

Your submission must be in the form of a pdf. 

If we accept your work for publication, we reserve the non-exclusive right to your work’s physical and electronic distribution. However, you keep all rights to the work itself. You are welcome to publish the same work elsewhere after it has been published by No Rules.
